The finance committee health bill has been scored and is pretty much on budget. I agree that there are allot of savings that can not be scored by the cbo. I also give the democrats credit for listening to senate republicans and addressing the fraud, waste and abuse in the government run medicare program. But I think republicans bring up a very good point with the calculated savings from cutting the fraud, waste and abuse. Normally republicans are the only party to admit the government run medicare program has a fraud, waste and abuse problem. Now we are to believe democrats are going to cut 400+ billion in fraud, waste and abuse? There is nothing in any bill that holds them to this. If they do not find the fraud, waste and abuse the money will be added to the federal deficit. They are not even talking about the money needed up-front to improve efficiency. Once these new medicare workers are investigating fraud and find inadequacies in the system will they fix them? Only the left would spend more money and make a system bigger while saying their goal is to improve efficiency. For example the finance committee health bill would postpone a large cut in medicare payment fees to doctors which is scheduled to take effect in 2010. I am certainly not against seniors getting the care they deserve but lets be up-front about costs. The left is trying to expand medicare programs based on numbers after the system has been cleaned up. Medicare is going broke and the left is going to try and fill the holes with money. If the left can not find a way to subsidize their medicare program with money and/or young healthy people, it will fail. When has the left ever cut funding to one of their programs good or bad? I think this is nothing more then the left, taking this opportunity to expand one of their programs. You know what they say in politics, never let a crisis go to waste. I hate to put down democrats when they are trying. But lets see some results before you even think about expanding government run programs.
